5, five, FIVE! Can you believe it?!
It seems like just yesterday I became an ordained minister and wedding officiant with Say Yes Alaska, and now here I am — celebrating five amazing years.
As I prepare for tomorrow’s ceremony in my favorite location, I’m looking at this little book that has traveled with me through every wedding I’ve performed. In rain, snow, sunshine — and everything wild that Alaska can throw our way — this book has been my witness to something magical every time: two people committing to walk life’s path together.
I’ve worn just about every hat a wedding and event person can wear, bringing thousands of weddings and celebrations to life over nearly three decades. But in 2020, when elopements were trending and the world felt so uncertain, Laura — who had already established Say Yes Alaska — asked me if I’d ever thought about becoming an officiant. Honestly, I hadn’t. But right there, in a cozy cabin on Lowell Point, I became an ordained minister and a Say Yes officiant.
Since then, our team of “Love Angels” has grown — now five ladies and one fella strong — with Laura leading the way as we continue to spread love the Say Yes Way!
That same little book is still with me. It’s tattered and weathered, and probably ready for retirement, but I can’t let it go. Inside are the names, dates, and places of every couple I’ve had the privilege to unite.
Couples come in all shapes and sizes, and I am firmly, passionately rooted in LOVE IS LOVE. On the heels of Pride Month, I can’t help but reflect on some of the beautiful, diverse, heartfelt ceremonies I’ve had the honor to be a part of through Say Yes Alaska.
Here’s to five years — and all the love stories yet to come. 💍✨
Thank you to every couple who’s trusted me with your vows — it’s an honor I’ll cherish for a lifetime.
