It’s no secret that I have a big crush on the state of Alaska…the more often I make the trek the harder it is to head back to the big apple. I’ve decided I want to put a new spin on being bi-coastal!
When traveling I like to check out what’s happening in whatever far flung place I find myself… the visual eye candy of new surroundings is the best inspiration and meeting industry peers makes you realize that no matter where we are we all face similar challenges as small business owners.
Many think NYC is the epicenter of the event industry but I would argue that they know how to throw a great party in America’s Last Frontier!
In July I had the opportunity to visit La Boum events in Anchorage and meet the owner Rebecca Kopperud. I don’t remember how I first learned of this company but I’ve had an eye on their social media posts over the last 18 months and it’s been great to see the exciting and beautiful events they have been putting together! With a focus on social occasions, & an expanding portfolio of corporate and non profit events, La Boum events offers a wide range of services and has certainly established itself as the go-to company for event planning in and around Anchorage, the Mat-su and the Kenai penninsula… There are big things on the horizon for this growing company as they plan to open their second office in Palmer. Rebecca was a gracious host and we had a super lovely chat…it is wonderful to connect with a fellow female small business owner within the industry and I look forward to seeing her on my next visit. You never know what a quick note saying hello can turn into…I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet with her and visit her Anchorage studio. Next time your in a far flung place why not say hello to an industry peer or small business you’ve noticed in the social media sphere.
Alaska’s state motto is: North to the Future… 😉
